Yves Scherer

Yves Scherer (b. 1987, Solothurn, Switzerland) is a visual artist based in New York City. Working in media spanning figurative sculpture, oil painting and lenticular prints, he creates immersive environments that combine personal narratives with fan fiction and celebrity culture, offering the viewer an often romantic lens on the self, relationships and the everyday. Recent bodies of work move between the warmth of painted bronze and oil on linen and the cool translucency of carved white onyx, with recurring motifs of daylight, night and sleep (Daylight, Goodnight Moon, Day and Night). Scherer studied Sciences of Culture at Lucerne University, Basel and Berlin (BA, 2011) and Sculpture at the Royal College of Art, London (MA, 2014). His work has been shown extensively in galleries and institutions, including the Swiss Institute in New York, Kunsthalle Basel and the ICA London, and is part of the collections of the Portland Art Museum, the Farnsworth Museum, Kunstmuseum Olten and Kunsthaus Grenchen, among others. He received the Förderpreis Bildende Kunst of the Canton of Solothurn in 2012 and Swiss Art Awards in 2015 and again in 2024, and was listed on Forbes 30 Under 30 "Art & Design" in 2016. Recent solo exhibitions include Another Day in Paradise, The Journal Gallery, Los Angeles (2025); As It Is in Heaven, Carl Kostyál, Stockholm (2024); Imagine, Peres Projects, Seoul (2024); and Sunshine, The Stable, S-chanf (2023). Scherer lives and works in New York.
